The annual Memorial Day Parade is sponsored by the American Legion Moon Brothers Post 275 in cooperation with the City of Independence.

The parade route runs from Summit View School to Memorial Park. The memorial was constructed on the grounds of the American legion Post on West Elm Street and was dedicated in May 1945. Location Krogers parking lot.
